Her name is Becca

Katie started kindergarten in the fall of 2003. She met so many girls and boys that became her close companions and many of them have remained friends all these years. They traveled from Garfield Elementary to Sudlow Junior High to Central High School where they are finishing their sophomore year.
Katie has a gaggle of girls that are her besties and as parents, Lamar and I adore the girls, we trust them and feel very blessed they are in Katie's life. They've all spent many a nights at our house, sometimes one at a time or sometimes all of them together, yikes!
One of these girls has been their since kindergarten year and she is not only a best friend to Katie, but a sister. Her name is Becca.
Their relationship is far deeper than normal friendship because they can bicker about everything and nothing, they can grow together and change, one has the personality of day and the other night, one is dresses and the other shorts and tees. But together, they carry their relationship as friends & sisters. Each one has another set of friends, and they aren't together all of the time, but they are always there for one another.
As the girls are finding themselves just 2 short years away from graduation, and entering into college, I can not imagine our life without Becca on a regular basis.
In 2009, she stayed with Katie when the doctor told her that she had H1N1 and could not be the Junior bride's Maid in her Aunt Gina's wedding.
She has gone to family reunions, weekends away & family vacations
She was taught how to sew and make cookies by Katie's Aunt Julie in Louisiana.
When she is not annoying me with her drumming or her burping, she is making me laugh with her made up songs and dances. Last summer at the dinner table, she asked Matt if they sold Alligator repellant. Um, NO!
She has helped Lamar coach T-ball, changed Maggie's diapers, walked the streets in Louisiana where we used to live. Laughed when I saran wrapped her car. Apologized to me when I yelled at her and Katie when they broke my blender & when they broke Katie's bedroom window.
She sat with Katie when Grandma and Grandpa Dunkin each passed away. Sending beautiful bouquets of flowers to make Katie smile.
We take her shopping on Black Friday, She hogs the air in the back seat on road trips, she is a regular at our family events, like Aunt Joyce's 60th birthday! She was there to help us clean Uncle Jack's house for Easter lunch when he had fallen and broke his wrist.
The nights of church, shopping at Target, slushes from Sonic, Ding Dong Ditching the Theiling Boys house and The Thompsons. Victoria and I in the car laughing so hard till we cried.
Maggie calling you a Hot Dog.
All of the snow days, vacation and no school days. The countless trips to Taco Bell, Starbucks and whiteys. The days waiting for Jamison to get out of school and you hanging his name sign out the window. The endless sleepovers where you girls would never sleep, birthday parties & swimming. The long but exciting 9 months of waiting for you to become an aunt for the first time and celebrating with you all when the twins were born!
Now, seeing the fear in your eyes as you stand with us through this new journey we are on, but knowing that you will be there to make me laugh when I need it!
Thank you Bubba Roo

I Love you, your other mother
